Hello, P.O.T.N. I guess this is as good a place to start posting as any, so here's my wife.

Very nice! Now you just need a fast lens to make it easier on you! Good capture!

Thanks jbkalla. Do you have any recommendations for that faster lens? Honestly I know very little about glass.

Well, it all depends on your budget, but prime lenses (non-zoom lenses) would be the least expensive. Next, maybe the Canon 17-40L f/4. What you want eventually would be lenses with the widest aperture (otherwise known as "fast" lenses) to let in the most light. f/4 is quite good. f/2.8 is faster, and so on... Of course, aperture isn't the only thing that determines the quality of the lens, but it's a big one!

Canon also makes a couple 50mm lenses that are quite good and fairly fast. There's an f/1.8 for about $75-100USD, then there's an f/1.4 for around $250? or so. Then there's the super-expensive f/1.2L. But the under-$100 lens is quite a bargain. It's more cheaply made than the others, but is quite fast for the money. The 50mm lens on a "cropped" sensor camera is equivalent to the 85mm lens many photogs swear by for portraiture.

Sorry! This could go on forever, and I'm no expert, so I'll leave it to those that are to better explain your questions!

Here is one I shot of my wife the other night. I used a single flash mounted on a flash bracket and bounced off of the ceiling with a "better bounce card"
