I dont know if its jpg artifact or if you tried to soften the picture, either way something looks really weird, looks like surface blur, but covering her mouth and the ocean and everything else in the pic making it all plastiqui and weird.. its a nice shot but either the image is soft and the sharpening screwed up the pixels or someone screwedi it up trying to soften it... just my 2 cts

SwiftFootTim, No problem at all, and I agree with you 100%. I think it looks like that because I used noise ninja (which I really dont know how to work yet), I used CS3 (which I am no pro at), and I used a flash (which I am just learning to use)...lol. This was just a shot I took while she was playing in the water and I was playing with the camera.

Also, it was under exposed which did not help things :) .

S.Horton, I thought I did use the raw file, I may have grabbed the wrong one though. I think it is more my lack of skill right now more than anything haha.

Do you have the non-Noise Ninja'd photo in RAW? There are some fantastic post processors on here that could give you pointers about how to use Noise Ninja or even work around the noise. Worth a shot I would say. What was the EXIF on you photo?

Canon 1D MkIII, 580 EX II, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS, Sigma 300 f/2.8 EX DG HSM, Lowepro Flipside 400 AW

Hey I just saw this.. I hate those noise softwares, I know some people know how to use it well all the props to them I dont, for me its photoshop all the way, I dont call a result like this saving the image, I know some people do, for me its destroyng all the pixels, taking away any sharpness and making it look overall, for the lack of a better word, really weird.

I would purt it in photoshop, lighten a bit, airbrush some of the noise away, and ind perhaps some very soft selective blurring (or airbrush) and if the image is worth ljkeeping the noise is better to have than a result like this...

(in my opinion)

F/4 1/250 ISO 400 FL 17mm

And I just realized I screwed up, it changed the original file when I edited it and I only saved it in JPEG when I was done :( .

Never mind, I found the original :)

Great capture Rockyons. I think the shot could be warmed up a bit by change of WB. But other than that, amazing ;)
