Nice photo of the wife. Love the processing, colors and lighting.

Thank you......late in the day, fairly low sun at her back. The wall bounced some of it back into her face. Adjusted exposure very slightly, bumped up the shadows in her face a touch and that's about it.

There was a runaway flock of hair at the top of her head which I removed.

Do you mind sharing your lighting set up? I am in the market for some lighting gear and don't know where to start.

Thanks in advance.

Many thanks :)

Well... I have this for sale to get you started. LOL :D

The lighting was with a 7' Photoflex Octa to camera right and a reflector to camera left. Nothing more :) Pretty simple setup...very nice/soft light from the Octa. The light was an Elinchrom 400ws head.

Hope this helps and thanks again,
Hatch

Don't judge me on my editing skills. I'm horrible.

Yes, you are horrible. This is Simon Cowell here, by the way :-)

OK, with my very limited knowledge this is how I see it ...

Composition - excellent.

Light - not so excellent, the flash is lighting only the top part of the head , I'm thinking the chin was very dark but brightened up in PP. Was it a bounce flash of something very close to her head, low ceiling maybe?

Background - not good at all. There is a laser beam going out of her head, two of them actually. Either you married E.T.'s sister, of there is some neon light in the background that soooo needs to be cloned out. I'd also remove the very bright spots in the middle of the picture.

Skin - I think the bottom part of the face is far overdone with skin smoothing. While some will argue that the skin smoothing is a must in portraiture, I like it more natural. The problem here is that neither camp will be happy, the top of her face looks natural (plus flash), the bottom is over processed.

Teeth - She has beautiful teeth, but here they look pure plastic.

Colours - maybe a touch too warm, but goes nice tith the background.

Wife - gorgeous girl.

Me -> running under the bed and staying there for a week or so :-)

One more thing I'd like to add - looks like you've over-sharpened her eyes.
I like the composition of the shot and you've got a beautiful wife.
