My old G2 is still a very nice camera but lately i got a problem, after a series of indoor shots with flash on it, the camera, didn't want to focus anymore, i did several tests to discover that with flash turned off it focuses and shots.
is it possible that the flash lamp got broken or is it the capacitor below the flash lamp that can't provide enough energy? in both cases how do i change the lamp and/or capacitor? or is there anything i should check before? i removed the front camera case but i don't want to risk to pull the flash off as i don't know how to proceed.
any suggestion on what to do?

thanks

p.s. i'll need the camera shortly for a wedding :-(

Before going any further, I think it is a good idea to be sure that the batteries are in good condition. If possible, test the camera with a new battery fully charged. Flash ON draws extra power from the batteries, and if they are weak, the lens motors (there is a motor for focusing) may fail.

The battery is new... also with the camera attached to the battery charger it doesn't work.
