dtufino... when asking for comments and critique, do you mind if others make corrections to your images and post? If not, you might want to turn on the "IMAGE EDITING OK" option on your profile.

Here's one thing i noticed when i got my RebelXT. I was shooting in AdobeRGB (the files are named "_MG_1234") and they look good in Photoshop, but not in any other program (for example after you finish editing and save them).

Todays monitors can only display sRGB colour gamut, so if you try to display sRGB, the colours at the extremes (the most colourful) look muted and dull. (You'd find that they print well though!)

First thing to do is check what the camera names the files:
_MG_XXXX Means its Adobe RGB - colours used for printing
IMG_XXXX means its sRGB - colours used for screen

To change the setting, on your camera goto:
menu, Tab 2, Color Space. It should be either sRGB or AdobeRGB

This is an Adobe RGB image unconverted:

This is an AdobeRGB image converted to sRGB in Photoshop (Edit>Convert to profile>sRGB IEC61966-2.1) or shoot it in sRGB to start with:
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'text/html' | Byte size: ZERO

Notice the maroon fairing of the bike and the green jacket are all nice and bright.
You can notice it here:
cut and paste these two links into another browser window and then use forward and back to compare them. Notice a big difference?

Good luck, let me know how you get on with this, it bugged me for ages when i first got the XT!!!:mad::mad::o

P.S. Check your "Parameters" setting to make sure the setting you have has saturation middle or right!

Hey... no pain. The forums are here for people to ask questions of each other and to learn. I find that having the IMAGE EDITING OK turned allows some of the other more experienced folks to make some edits which I can generally learn from.

Anyway... keep shooting and posting.

Those images are just about the most challenging for any camera. So much contrast it's unbelievable, especially when you are exposing for the bike!

And remember - even the very best film cameras have their results 'tweaked' in the lab before you get the film, and slides are also controlled by the viewer to some degree. It't not often an image will come out that doesn't need some adjustment!

just an aside, I noticed that most the mtb shots are taken at 1/200. You might want to increase the shutter speed on some shots to get rid of any motion blur on the rider. Of course, ignore that if you're panning with ther rider :P
