Day-ummmm Archie....why don't ya say what ya mean? I don't buy a specific diopter because my glasses correct my vision just fine. Using a diopter adjusted viewfinder would entail removing my glasses. I need them to see what is going on around me. Taking them off and putting them back on over and over again just isn't a rational behavior for most of us that are visually challenged. Not only is is time consuming to keep cycling your glasses on and off, but you run into the problem of what to do with them while you have them off. Just be glad you don't have to wear them yet!

I agree. They're necessary for good vision in all circumstances. So despite there being diopters available to correct adequately for my vision, it would be more of a nuisance to have to take my glasses off each time I looked through the viewfinder.

Just looked at B&H and they are around $14. I may just do that. But which eye do you look through the viewfinder?

I am dominantly left eyed, however when shooting sports, flying birds etc. I use both eyes. Right eye on the view finder and left on the subject so I can follow it into the viewfinder instead of weaving like a searchlight. I learned to do this using a monocular microscope. The idea was to reduce fatigue and it applies well to photography too! Once I got used to it is actually easier to keep both eyes open. As an added bonus, I am equally wrinkled around both eyes!:p

I think my right eye is the worse of my two so looking through the viewfinder has been difficult. My strain has been very bad lately. I must try that open both eyes thing you described. And the skin around my eyes are equally wrinkled as well. :)

maybe try popping a lens out of your glasses, and useing a rubberband, or some super glue to fasten it to the eyecup... I know it sounds crazy, but i used an outdated pair to modify my binoculars a couple years ago, and it worked great. Other people couldn't use them though.

kills resale vaue though, if you do it the way i did... with epoxy...lol

good luck i have been dealing with the same problems for years, in telescopes, microscopes, sports equipment, and now in cameras

The problem with that sort of conversion on a camera is that if you have astigmatism, you can only set the added lens up correctly for one orientation. Your astigmatism correction will be 90 degrees off in the other orientation.

I just bought the extender (EP-EX15), and I hate it! It makes the small viewfinder on the 350D even smaller. So guess I'll just have to live with the smudges on the screen.

I know. My eyes are getting worse so I went to the eye doctor this week, got new glasses on order. I just wear the glasses now. It's stupid, because I pretty much squint with my glasses on into the viewfinder, but it's the best I can do. Better with the glasses on and know what I'm seeing than not seeing anything.

My glasses make my vision perfect, so I don't want to mess with anything. fortunately I can wear my glasses and look thru the view finder just fine. I was thinking about the eyepiece extender to try keep my nose off mof the LCD - but it's no hassle to keep it clean.
