Beautiful work! I saw one on the ground at Andrews AFB (guarded by several well-armed gentlemen), but didn't get to see it perform. Does anyone know when they will officially enter service? I thought they planned to activate the first wing soon.

I'm hoping to have the ability to view more than a flyby this year. I'm going to Edwards and Nellis. Thanks for the nice eye candy!!

Thanks all! They are active - and based at Langley with the First Fighter Wing (external link). Although they did quite a few fly-throughs and a fantastic take-off (pulled up to vertical after a short run, throttled back and 'hovered', before tipping forward and powering out!) they didn't really show off it's manouevrability in front of the crowd. I did see the Raptor pilot pulling a few impressive manouevres (cobra included!), but it was way behind the show and high up, while the A-10 pilot was doing his display.

Great raptor shots! Man, you got some really nice closeups in your gallery as well!

Thanks for looking!

Thanks PhotosGuy & Kevin! They had a couple on static (one in a hanger with a F-15, and one with a F-35 mock-up) and I managed to get down to the flight line of the display Raptors too, so I've got some up close shots too!
I wasn't mad keen on them before I saw them, but after seeing them in the flesh I think they're pretty cool!

On the friday evening as the light was fading, a Raptor and an Eagle were having a 'see who can use the most fuel the quickest' 'burner competition!

F-22, as my husband says, is the best plane the US has right now. Not bias at all, Lockheed Martin.
