I went to the nature preserve to take some bird pics and took these as well. I liked the deer because of the reflection and I don't know what the other thing is but I liked the way it looked. CC welcome.

The other thing is a Teasel. Very attractive to Goldfinches over here.

Thanks for the comments everyone and the edit superscot. It does seem to look better a little darker.
Thanks snappa for the ID. I think they are an invasive species over here.

very nice. especially showing the reflection of the deer.. looks very well
I like the web showing in the spikes on top of the teasel
the shot is not real sharp but maybe next time, as the details on the teasel look like they would be a perfect subject to get in real close and sharp especially if there are cobwebs or dew on it

Thanks for the nice comments Tirzah and Marie.
I was somewhat limited by the zoom lens I had on and the overcast morning light. The teasel shot was taken handheld at 300mm, 1/500, f 5.6, ISO 800. I don't currently have any kind of macro lens and this point and also need to invest in a better telephoto. I feel like my shots always look kind of soft.
