Looking to pick one up on Friday, just wondering what everyone thought of it? The reviews I've seen look good, some even say its excellent.

I'm going with the Sigma 10-20 and the 105 f2.8 macro too. I have a Tamron 28-75 that is very sharp, and a Tamron 28-300 that is ok up to 200mm. I don't do much long zoom so I'm happy with it. I may go with the 70-200 Sigma APO f2.8 down the road if needed.

Any opinions on the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 ??

Thanks for any input!

I've had mine for about a week now and I'm extremely happy with it.It's so nice to know that if I do my part right I can forget about the lens because it will capture the scene just as I see it,wonderful.
I've also got the 10-20 and that's a fine lens too though not in the same class as the Tamron.

I've taken a few shots with mine over the last 4 days and have been pretty impressed. First thing I like is that it feels well-balanced on my 350D. Second thing is that the focal range is nice - I'd forgotten how great it is to go wide without having to carry another lens. On the downside there's not much reach so I've got to get in closer for portraits. I find the build quality very good - better than Canon consumer lenses like the 17-85 and 24-85 - and a bit better than my Tamron 28-75. Autofocus is pretty quick, but quite noisy, and I haven't had any trouble in low light. Two photos follow, the first to give an idea of the colour the lens produces and the second because I liked it.

Thanks for the input guys ;)

I think it fills my needs pretty nicely, put off ordering it until next payday since I've bought other stuff I needed today.
