I'm proud owner of EOS 350D since yesterday. This is one of my first pictures with this camera. Comments are welcome.

I like the potential of the this scene but it doesn't work for me because of the busy background. It's also VERY layered. Flowers on top of flowers, etc. The lighting was actually very good, I think, but the flowers were in the wrong spot, or the camera was too. Just too much going on but keep at it.

First off congratulations on the new camera and welcome to the forum! This is an interesting picture. Rather funky lighting on the flowers, is it sunlit? I can see there seems to be some backlighting through the flowers, am I correct (I really like this effect when it works)? As to the background I agree with the comment above, too much there! I know it can be difficult, but try to move the flowers around so that even a blank wall is behind it, that way the focus is just on your subject. Hey, I've even put flowers in the kitchen sink to get good lighting and a clean background!

Yes, the flowers were backlighted by evening sun. Thanks for tips on the background.
