internet shortcut/links

hi all
in the last couple of days my computer won't open shortcuts/links from within a web page. some it will some it won't. i've had to copy shortcut and paste it in the browser to open the next page.

it actually opens a new page but nothing shows in it only the bar at the top.

any ideas?
