EOS350D as sold in Australia vs 350D Rebel

I am looking at buying a 350D and notice there are ads that specify they are selling the 350D not the 350 Rebel XT.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is? It's probably marketing rubbish but I would very much like to know before finalising my purchase.

I have also had comments that the packaged Canon and Sigma lenses are not good enough for semi professional work, and that I should buy "L" series lenses. Are the packed lenses OK or am I better buying just a body and lenses separately?

Thanks for your advice...

Warwick

The difference should be strictly the name tape. Here in Japan it's the "Kiss." As for the lenses I can't comment, but I plan on getting a EF 50mm f/1.4, it's apparently a lens every SLR owner should have.

Literally just starting out.
Equipment: Kodak EasyShare DX6490 (I know, sad.)
On The Way: Canon EOS 30D + grip, EF 50mm f/1.4, kit lens, MacBook :D

It's exactly the same model, the only difference is the little badge on the front.

Not sure about the body... but I am using the Canon 17-85 IS lens and just picked up the Sigma 70-300 APO because of the reports I read on it here. It appears to be a very sharp lens. I was just in Sydney with it last week. Here is a shot (100% crop, no sharpening) from the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro.

I just started using this lens. It retails for about $179-219 in the US (bit more in Canada and Australia). I shot this hand-held at 190mm focal length.

It is called the Rebel so the septics can continue to think they are the only ones on the planet.

I don't think there is any difference in the EXIF data. The only parts that differ are the two name plates, and the software CD.

wait
Are you buying this on Ebay? NEVER buy a camera in a lens bundle except when you know exactly what lenses your getting. Lens bundles always give you the cheapest lenses available.
