Well, last fall I used my 10D with a Tamron 28-75 lens in some rain (not too heavy one, just the regular showers here and there) and it did pretty good. I should add that most of the time the camera (and I) were under the protection of an umbrella, and was exposed to the rain only during the actual shooting for relatively short periods of time (a few seconds every time).
About two years ago I used the camera on a beach during very strong blowing wind with a lot of flying sand and water droplets - again I was covering the camera all the time, except of when actually taking the shot. I even managed to switch between two lenses, the Sigma 15-30 and the Canon 100mm macro without getting the camera messy. The wind almost blew me away, but it was wotrh it - during that shoot I managed to capture this picture
