Took these earlier this year while the bridge was in it's beginning stages. These are the piers that would later hold everything up. Thought it looked kind of neat at night so I took a few shots. I unfortunately didn't have a tripod as you can see. :(
All photos range from 1/4-1/2 second shutter and all at 1600 iso

Kira- You did very well.
I personally enjoy brigdes under construction and night photos as well.
Where and what will the name of the bridge be?

Thanks Transportithere.
The bridge is an expansion of our current floodway here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Not too sure what it will be called. I'm tempted to go do a follow-up shoot because it's still in the works.

I am no Pro, but those shots are extremely sharp and well exposed considering the conditions.

great shots

Derek,

These shots are fantastic. I love the orange glow... the sparseness of the third shot is great... the floating lights between the bridge supprorts. First and third shots are my favorite.

Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful and mysterious shots Derek. I've never seen those before. Well captured.

thanks for all the kind words.

the construction in these pictures was happening mid-winter, so the orange tarps were keeping heat in I believe. they probably just poured the concrete and needed to keep it a certain temperature. in the end, making big glowing orange things at night :P

Kind of remind me of giant Chinese paper lanterns. Nice!

It's great when you're driving along and suddenly see the photos before you take them. You just have to stop and start shooting. Great result.

Very interesting capture! It looks like some environmental art that Christo would make.
