I saw these guys at lunchtime, rooting in the grass on our school grounds.
The children are gone for the summer, and the groundhogs are getting braver.

Nice captures Joe. Too bad he was in the shade in #2.
I have not seen one in real life. I was hoping to see some in my last Yellowstone trip but none showed up. Or maybe i just didn't know where to find them.:o

Thanks Jeremy, Fee, and Dimitri. It's been more like spring the last few days,
but expected to be back in the mid 80s F (that's about 30 C) tomorrow.

I thnk this one is moving closer to the escape hole under the gazebo at left. Here is a 100% crop:
