I have searched, but not found a post on the CF settings available on a e.g. 350D (as mine).
I has repeatedly read about CF1.0 and CF4.0/4.1, but how do I know when to use what and why? There are so many settings, but do I need them?

I hope you can help and sorry for the newbie question.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards

Your instruction manual will give full details of the various custom functions available and how to set them on your camera.
As far as the benefits of the different settings are concerned, it really depends on what you shoot and your style of shooting. I sometimes use CF 4-1 as I like to focus and meter separately others use it for action shots.
Many of the custom functions are very specialised and probably not too relevant to most of us. Have a look at the manual and try them out to see if they suit you. There is a reset facility to return all CFs to the default so don't worry about messing things up :D

Thank you for the quick reply.
Do you know where to find the manual? Lost the box.

Follow the links to consumer support, and you'll see where you can get the whole manual in PDF format.

Found it and read it. Thank you very much. I had completely misunderstood the CF concept. For some reason I thought that one should choose one setting (e.g. CF4.0) and then all the others were deactivated.
So thank you for the help.
