With the release of the new Sony DSLR (at 10MP) is this likely to cause a price drop for the 350D or perhaps a new model 400D?

Although I'm still looking at getting a 20D or 30D rather then a replacement 350D.

I think that's pretty much the general consensus in the photographic community as a whole.

Not from me!
It's great to see the in camera stabilization continued -improved actually.
Hopefully it will eventually jolt canon into offering something similar.
(no there is no need to tell me that canon allready make IS lenses.....)

well, if you bother to check sample images of that Sony stuff, you will notice that EOS line will continue to live and remain unchallenged... it's a perfect example of corporate marketing sucking the cash from ppl knowing nothing about the photography.... Sony tube TV's were good... some of their LCD's are good... they can't comprehend plasma, that's OK, they stayed away from them, let them stay away from still cameras all together....

as kufel said, a100 is not a useable slr, kind of like the evolt-300 and 330 (and leica/panasonic equivilents). lenses should be good, but the camera itself has a lot lacking... if only sony would learn from their high end prosumer camcorder market.. get canon's chips and build the body yourself, maybe stick a zeiss in there too...

350d's price won't drop too much more than what it's at now, like the rebel before it, not much more of a drop in price will help sales. as for 400d, not likely unless a 40d comes out and replaces 20d/30d (not going to happen for a while), if it does though, it'll be along the lines of the 20d to 30d upgrade.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

EOS 350D vs. Sony ALPHA A100

I've sold all my Canon and Nikon gears to keep my Fuji S2 & S3 pros plus new Sony A100, best images i can get up to date. Dont listen to people who only have Nikon or Canon gears, you need to have both to compare, i did my tests, i have them all..Canon not sharp, blo hilites, yellow cast. Nikon blo hilites, not acurate metering, colors not true. fUJI have the most detail sharpness, great colors. Its not the lenses, its the CCD that will produces great images, the lense will help.
Read more comparison on Fuji vs Nikon and Canon on the web..

read forums on these subject.
you will see most 99% people love Fuji, only if they have both Fuji and Nikon or Canon, ok?
Now you need to try Sony A100 too, its got Super Steady Shot in body, therefore all lenses attached to body will have stabilizer, produces great images...i love Sony colors, super sharp images, dont need to buy over price IS and VR lenses, second to Fuji..After all Sony makes CCD for all Nikons.
Watchout for all new Sony DSLRs coming out, may be best in the market, or buy Fuji S5.
gudluck.

Lens based stabilization will always be superior to in camera body. The A100's noise gets ridiculous after ISO400 as well. http://www.dpreview.com …s/SonyDSLRA100/page20.asp (external link)

Just go with the Rebels or 20D/30D. The plethora of lens and accessories is what matters and should last you if you ever need to upgrade. Plus, you have this great community if you ever need help. ;)

You've joined a Canon-oriented forum to talk about your new Sony purchase?

this is has to be a joke , a had sony a100,
"super steady shot" doesn't do much and close to useless at long end ,
anti -dust - useless .
go over Iso 400 and get lots of noise.

lenses over priced to begin with, crapy build,
and no optical IS.
very.....very..... and I mean VERY!!! slow auto focus ,
and loud as garbage truck , people will look at you as your sony trying to focus.
