I waited forever for this beaver to come around and I was loosing light. The pond sits low among high scrubs and trees making it somewhat hidden from view.

Here is the camera data: 1/250, f/5.6, ISO 800, 200mm

I know there is a lot of reflection on the water and it's dark. Please let me know if there is any PP that needs to be done on this image.

Hello PhotoScout,

The photo is a bit soft, at 200mm you were probably a bit to far from the beaver for the lens.

To take care of the reflection you will need a polorizer, bad news is it will cost you a couple of stops pending on the one you buy; not a good thing in low light ;)

Next time try and get lower to the water reducing the angle which should help with the reflection, also try taking the photos in the early morning (sunrise yeah that means 4:30am) you will find them more active and the bonus is the light condition keep improving rather then geting darker.

Good luck,

Canon 20D, a bunch of lens and an empty wallet.

I had a very similar problem shooting a group of river otters. It was in a natural cannal with heavy tree cover so the light level was low. I was shooting from a kayak so keeping the camera steady was an issue and I didn't have near the reach I needed. Mix the three of those with an incredible photo opportunity and you get a very frustrating photo experience. Check them out.
