After a 6 hour drive from the Los Angeles area to San Jose I got my chance to put my 30d to the test. I think I only took about 3000 shots at this event (I am still getting used to the camera). I used a Canon 70/200 f/4L and I am thinking of making the upgrade to the f/2.8 but really do not want to carry that heavy thing all day. Most of the shots I take are in direct sunlight, but this place did not clean the netting so it made the field kind of dark. Let me know what you think.

You guys in Cali are lucky to have so much sun. It drives me nuts trying to shoot a tourny up here in the NW when we haver more overcast days then sunny days.

I just spent 8 hours today at a closed practice for the Naughty Dogs and Infamous. The first 7 hours were overcast.

I would not mind shooting in overcast to shoot a field with grass! I hate the dirt (at times). We are getting more and more turf fields here and it makes for better pictures. Are you going to Chicago this month for the PSP?

I'd like to but I don't think it will fit into my schedule. I'm supposed to visit some family in Vegas the same weekend.

I'd have to agree on the grass. Shooting at HB sucked with all the sand. My dial felt and sounded gritty for weeks afterwards, I but the dirt/dust isn't too much better.

Today's pics are up if you are interested. www.blacklistphoto.com (external link)

the 2.8 really isn't that heavy after a while. Try carrying a 1dmkII with a 100-400 on it... I love mine 2.8 for paintball, it's still my sharpest lens i've got

my girlfriend shoots one and I carry it around the field sometimes. There is a big differance in the weight but I look at here images and I can see the differance.
