These flowers reminded me of a scene from the movie The Color Purple. C&C appreciated.

Rebecca, that is one stunning picture,i think though (and i`ve tried it) that it needs some contrast and local contrast.
It looks awesome,IMO ofcours.
I can PM it if you want.

Thanks, Pup! I didn't know what the flower was, but I thought they were pretty.

Dimitri, please feel free to post your edits (and the steps to do it myself!) I always like to learn new PS techniques. Thanks for the nice comments!

Is it common for cameras to have problems processing purple? This is a purple flower taken with my Tamron. Anybody have any suggestions?

Right Rebecca
In levels,i pulled the middle pointer to the right and gave it more contrast.
Then i gave it some local contrast by doing this...
Filter > sharpen > usm,,,,amount....20% - radius 50 - threshold 0
Try it yourself , it works well most of the time.

WOW Becca - I had the benefit of seeing your original shot and Dmitri's edit before I posted my comments. I would have suggested exactly what Dmitri did, and the shot is gorgeous!!

Thanks Dimitri for the pointers! I will definately play with it using your steps and see if I can get the same type of results.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

jblksmith1, I'm afraid I can't answer your question. I've never had a problem capturing purple with my camera, but I suppose others may have trouble. Sorry! Your shot is beautiful!

Thank you Becca. Someone suggested checking the WB so if I ever get out of work that is what I will do.
