Art's Cameras Plus isn't too bad either Hawk, but I agree that Mike Crivello's is the best around us. Granted Calumet isn't very far away, but B&H is still the tops.

I used to go to Art's because it was blocks away from my house. I stopped in at Crivello's once and the service was 10x more friendly/professional than I ever ahd at Art's. I will only be going to Art's if they have something in stock that I need immediately that Crivellos doesn't have in stock.

Exactly. Arts is fine for more consumers, but the guys at Crivello's have been way better. Amy from Arts on 76th is now at the Crivello's main store too. :D

Rockford, IL here... Actually, Machesney Park - just south of the Illinois/Wisconsin state line. There's a couple decent camera stores in Rockford, the best one being 'Camera Craft'.

Have Canon Xti, and T2i, 18-135mmm 70-300mm. I'd be up for swap meets, g2g, etc.

Karl

I'm back in Illinois (thank god), but castle rock lake isn't bad. It's just far enough out of the way that it's mostly locals. Although the bars around it with boats and jet skis scare away most of the wild life on the... I think it's north side of the lake (Dirty Turtle, Shipwreck, Pine Cove, etc.). I've mostly experienced it by snowmobile (nothing like going 100mph+ on a frozen lake), but in the summer there's more wild life.

If you want to venture further north (only about 40 minutes from Broadway, the main downtown strip at the dells, just take highway 13 north and make a left at the gas station about 10 miles from the left hand turn from river road), Mauston WI has a lot more rural lakes and land.

If you go south towards Baraboo, (about 20 minutes south, depending on traffic), they have an air field that does scenic airplane tours, but it's pretty much just farm land. If you want wild life, head north.

And by the way... if you're a carnivore and have a cooler, stop by Zinkie's grocery store (make a right at Nig's bar, it's on your left across the street from the bank). They have great meat. The beer selection isn't bad either. A lot of craft brews that are hard to find.

Yeah, Horicon has a good bit of wild life, but the roads are easy to get lost on. Be sure to bring a gps if you go that route.

I am from Plymouth and very new to photography. Is anyone aware of a photography club in the area? I am looking for ways to improve my photography and learn from anyone willing to teach.
