Very nice series. I've been by that area a few years ago, but neglected to stop there.:( I will certainly try to rectify that at some time in the future. Again, nice work.

You've captured some very nice patterns in the sandstone there from the sedimentation layers to the erosion. Very nice.

Simply beautiful! This is very close to the top of my list of places to visit, and you may have moved it up a notch or two!

Very nice. I was just at Lower last month and can't wait to return. Lower is much longer than upper and there is no time limit like in upper.
Again very good captures!

I'm not certain, of course, but some of these look more like Lower Antelope, not Upper. You didn't say which in your post. Anyway, they are very good and remind me of a great visit there in Feb. I enjoyed Lower more than Upper, as I was alone most of the time.

Can someone tell me how much of a hike upper and lower Antelope canyons are? I am considering going through there in October with my wife, but if it's serious hiking with deep water and such, I'd have to leave her behind.

There is no major hike, the lower canyon i hear is longer. It took us around 30 -45 minutes the first time, then we kinda walked back half way and hung out. There is no water or anything of that sort in the lower canyon, for the parts that are steep they built stairs and hand rails to hang on to...my buddy took pictures of the stairs, heres an image to kind of give you an idea...its a friendly safe place. :)

We took 3.5 hrs to "shoot" our way through lower.I actually went all the way to the allowable end. You can come back the same way or climb out to return. If you talk to native peeps who run it, they will send a guide with you through if they are not to busy. There are some tight spots where I actually had to bag the camera. Mornings and late afternoons are also good for lower. If you want the light beam in upper it is best from 10:30-1:00 and very crowded.
$21.00 each, You can save a little if you can do them both in the same day.

This looks like an awesome place. For us ignorant of Geography, where is it? Nearest Airport and time to drive there.

Secondly, which lenses did you take. Do you need flash?

This is now on my list of places to visit!

It's just outside of Page AZ. There is a very small airport there but Flagstaff is 2 hrs to the south.Flash would not work well. Although I check histogram I still managed to blow out lots of shots where the light comes in in certain areas.
Lower Canyon has a lot of openings in the top and on windy days you will feel sand falling in. When I wanted to change lens I did it in a big clear plastic bag. This image is 17mm at 6 seconds:

Both canyons are thilling for photography. I took 4 hours in Lower, mostly all alone. It must be 1/4 mile or so through the canyon, and that much to walk back to the start. I found a few tight spots where I pushed the tri-pod through ahead of me, but then I'm pretty large (275 lbs). Upper is very flat and not as long, but is by far the most popular. A guide is required in Upper, so it costs more. More people in the smaller canyon can be a problerm. I was always walking into someones shot, or they into mine. That's why I enjoyed Lower more.

Anyone wanting to see more of these slot canyons, check out the Arizona section of my gallery.
