This is my first attempt at something like this (focus object in color, rest not). What do you think?

It is cropped to fit the site. It's hard to see here, but I kept the legs out of the color part because when they were in color, the legs were just way out of place.

C:lol: & C:evil: Please!!

That's a nice one Mr. E.

Not so sure whether you can get the rest of the bulbs out of focus/blurred... the ones that are (focussed) kinda draw the eyes to them rather than focus on the butterfly... but that's just me.

Cheers!

John;)

i think that if you left it natural, the scenery would have been overbearing on the little guy, and we would have wanted to see him fill the frame more. Using the color effect the way you did balances out the space more and gives him the attention he deserves without having another super-zoomed butterfly.

very creative, and well composed.

I'd like to see a blur experiment where he is the only focused (colored or not) subject in the frame.
