I was out looking for a good photo for the POTN Contest (#43, Water) when I came upon this fellow getting a drink at the doggy fountain. With his owner's permission, I got down low and started shooting as this fellow drank. I was on manual focus just in case the dog was sensitive to the USM. I snapped away while this guy lapped away. It wasn't until I got home that I realized he really didn't want his photo taken. :D

Great shots! They made me smile! I love shooting dogs even though they are a challenge...... or maybe thats why I enjoy it. You run into all the different personalities, the shy, the posers, and of course the jokers, I think I have caught more photos of dog butts than anything else!

Great shots, love the humour. Hope there was a fire hydrant nearby for him! ;)

The first photo is actually a result of how dogs drink. Lap, snap, lap, snap... Rather than any attitude towards my watching him.

This dog was actually very amicable to having his photo taken. He was also quite happy to pause between drinking to lay down in the puddle which forms around the base of the water tower. People drink from a fountain a little higher on the same pole, although I didn't see any showing their teeth while they did it. :)

I've never paid any attention to how dogs drink. Those are great shots and I'll probably never watch a dog drink again without thinking of that lap, snap, lap, snap...
