Hi! This butterfly seems to have taken up residence on one of my lilac bushes which is good since it's the first time I've tried to take pictures of one...they're not easy. C&C welcomed

nice job......I have tried lots of times to get a pic of a swallowtail, but they just take off when I get too close, and only having 3X sure does not help!

I prefer the second, as the bright spots in the background of the first are somewhat distracting to me.

They are both gorgeous - well done, it's a shot I haven't managed to capture yet, and I'm dying to!! Someone said it's best to try and photograph them in the early morning as the sun in the middle of the day makes them more active. That's one of the reasons I haven't tried photographing any - I haven't been good at early mornings for a while!!

Thank you for your your kind words and for looking Reigh, Dennis, Stoney, Sparker, Elisabeth and Calicocat. These were taken late Sunday morning, we were just headed out the door to go birding and I looked in the backyard and was like WAIT! I get up early enough/too early on work days that on my day off it has to be something earthshatttering to get me out of bed before 8am preferably 9 :D
