My son and I came home from soccer practice this evening to find a baby bat huddled next to our garage door.
I picked him up and put him on a nearby tree, hopefully he'll figure out where he is and continue his journey...

Thats a small bat. Did he sleep though his relocation? I moved a bat my my basement to a tree outside once. seemed to have slept through the whole thing.

He probably didn't sleep through it, just acted as if he was sleeping/dead.

He was awake for the move. He let out some clicking noises, I guess to 'see' what was messing with him, then a few hisses too.
I had some gloves on and he bit into the gloves pretty well for as small as he is.
Once he got to the tree he climbed off the gloves and onto the tree. When he climbed off the gloves his head was pointing up the tree. When I returned with the camera he had turned around and had his head pointing down.

He is still there is morning.

Uh oh...that doesn't sound good:confused: Are bats supposed to stay in one place like that, or is he too weak to move?
