No that's it's common name apparently :)
Philodromus sp.
This one was very stationary on an Acer leaf allowing me to take about 10 shots including two 3 pic stacks for the stereo.

That is the perfect leaf for the spider, they match :)

I love the second pic, Brian! Great angle and excellent colors. Stacking worked wonders :)

Bea- the leaf matched so well that I though I'd got a stacking error with too many legs- it was the leaf vein :)
Dave- not that big- I'd guess the body length was about 10mm- the Acer is one of my bonsai ones so the leaves are fairly small :)

Only 10mm? It looks a lot larger than this!!! Actually, for a crab spider, it looks rather menacing. At first glance it looked like a huntsman, or badge spider.

I also thought it's a lot bigger than 10mm! Anyway, I love the 2nd shot. Great work :)
