These guys are mates of mine...

I took some portrait shots of them backstage, against a wall with lots of stickers on it, which gave the pics a bit of interest... used my 50mm f1.8 lens for all these shots as it's nice and fast for the action shots.

Please let me know what you think! I've only just started taking photos and I'd appreciate all your critiques :D

Also, if you have a moment could you please vote for Light Brigade at http://www.xfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=105880 (external link)

Thanks! xx Keira

overall i think these shots are excellent!

I do have some reservations about your use of photoshop filters. especially on cam.jpg, and 20.jpg. The effect is interesting, but obvious. THere is no subtelty to the way you used it. It doesn't really ADD the the image, know what i mean. I understand that you are excited to play with these new image processing toys (believe me i ahve been there) but i would say that unless it REALLY improves the image, skip it entirely.

On the flip side, i really like your use of the "traditional" frame. The grundgy "ooh look i actually processed this the old fashioned way" thing. That works. I would cary it a bit more from shot to shot though, as you are clearly using a template.

Wow! Great start!

Really liked the style of your photos. Yeah filters and textures are not to everyones taste but with the subject matter being the energy and creativity of music, i think its good that you've experimented with other ways to express that.

I took a peek at your homepage and was also impressed by some of your photos there. I've never heard of this band, but I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually end up seeing some of your shots on their publicity or album work.

Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.

Hmmm, I'd prefer you link some images in here ... that website doesn't sound like something I want to click off into! :-)
