Wow. You guys really weren't busy today! Only two pages?
Lonnie? Anyone have advice on shooting meteors? I will do a long exposure but not sure on settings. I am doing a quick search now
Well, this is how I would do it. Get away from the lights of town, first of all. Use a sturdy tripod and point the camera away from the moon. Since the moon is still pretty close to full, there will be a lot of light in the sky, so I'd start at f/8 and 10 minutes, checking the shot on the LCD and adjusting the exposure time accordingly for subsequent shots.
Meteors are pretty fast, so I'd probably be adjusting that exposure time down as I fine tuned, so they show up against the star trails a little better. You might be able to get away with only a couple minutes, but you still want enough time to properly expose the foreground also. Be sure to find an interesting foreground to play the stars and meteors behind, by the way...
I'll bring my camera gear to work with me, but I don't know if I'll get a chance to try my hand at it. I can't get away from the city lights, anyway...

From what they were saying on the radio cutting down the number visible in an hour's time in half.
