Alan....that is beautiful! Which tube(s) did you use? And it was with the 50 1.4 ? Amazing.

bees are a pretty big subject for macro it was the 50 1.8 on a single 31mm tube...... so theoretically your 50 1.4 should be able to get better results than that

TPBM is a critter you wouldn't normally find on a farm.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

I knew you would love it, Cat. When I went out there today, all I could think of is "I got to get a piggy". Please reference my earlier request for a show of hands:p

TPB is a night shot

what is REALLY interesting about the 100-400 on the extensions is that the IS still works (wasn';t expecting that)

That runt was certainly getting everyone's attention! Those two little guys were about three hours old when I took that photo.

He's one terrific, radiant, humble, thingamajigima, fine phenomena.
Fine swine, wish he was mine, what if he's not so big?

it's not an ideal setup tho Lonnie....
its too damn heavy and cumbersome...

good for bees butterflies and dragonflies i would say....

for smaller critters a lens with a shorter focal length will give way better results and will be easier to handle

on a tripod i guess it would be easier .........but for macro i find tripods cause more probs than they solve............... ALL my macro shots are handheld
