I bought one too - the weekend before I left the states. :D
Wanted the 8GB one, but I'd already empied my wallet on other stuff this summer.
Besides, with my luck and the relative small size of CF cards, I'd probably lose it!! ack

Better to lose 2GB of pictures than 8GB... Oh, my shopping spree continued today. My monopod BROKE right before we left to go to the zoo... So it was back to the National Camera Exchange Tent Sale... Manfrotto monopod. Also picked up a ND and CP for my L. I got cheap ones (and half off to boot) since I'll almost never use them...

480 pics

Ya, before I had a total of 2GB of memory... Today I went through over 3GB. Probably a good thing I upgraded. I hate missing shots because I'm out of space on my cards.

*EDIT* Those 480 shots are all in RAW... Oh boy, oh boy!

TPBM is of a picture from this thread that you turned into black and white, NOT yours...as long as the person you took it from has "image editing OK" on thier signature......

Do they all come with a thread that small? Seems like it would be wiser for them to be standard 77 or so and then use stepping rings for the smaller lenses...

thanks. :) Remember, it was you and a handful of others on the macro forum that taught me how to shot creepy crawlies. ;)

it uses adapters (just a filter ring with a groove around it) the flash grips onto the grooves with sprung buttons.....

you can get different sizes but the flash came with a 58 and a 52

you don't get many (if any) macro lenses with a 77mm thread

i don't think they designed it with the 100-400 in mind :)

My keeper rate from the zoo today is WAY higher with my 70-200 f4 L than it was any of my other visits with my 75-300mm, although I do miss the extra reach on some of the shots. It's so much sharper that I should be able to crop to make up for it. :) I love all of my new toys. :D

I hear ya. I have the 75-300, and I love the reach, but it is SO soft at it's long end, that it just doesn't do it for me. I can get better shots with my 28-135 and a decent crop. (did I just admit that out loud?) :p

It's just been unreal to see the difference. I got the 75-300 less than 6 months ago, and pushed it to it's limits I guess. I loved it when I first got it, and used it all the time. Then one day I picked up the 100-400mm f4-5.6 L IS... After I looked through that lens I was never able to be happy with mine anymore. I knew there was no way I could afford it, so I went with the 70-200 used. The difference has just been amazing. Now I can work harder on my composition, and less on trying to get a sharp image. Most of my shots now I don't really do any PP. I just save them from RAW to JPEG and upload. I only make adjustments if something seems off, or if I plan on printing the shot, or doing something special. I do wish I had IS quite often, but that will just have to wait until I'm rich. ;)

The only time the L came off my camera was when I stuck tubes on it to do butterflies. It covered everything else wonderfully!

I considered renting a 400mm prime for today... For what that would have cost me I got my new monopod... Can you believe that with all the plastic in my old one, the part that actually broke was the metal screw that held the head in place?
