Athena... my 75-300 has IS, but it is still really soft at the long end, even with a tripod.

That's really a shame. I wonder what the MTF charts look like for that lens...

nice one joe...... meercats are so cool :)

They really are cool... Unfortunately, they had one bite some kid at the MN zoo, so they had to kill half a dozen of them and test them for rabies... Of course the glass for their pen was all smudged up, so My shots through there are soft, and when I stood up higher so I could shoot over the top (where I used to take them before they piled more crap up) they asked me to get down. :(

They are true "wild" horses. I guess they are native so somewhere in Asia. I should probably read the stuff more closely, but it's more fun to just wander and snap. Apparently, all our horses today are supposed be offshoots of that breed or something. Dunno...

Good question. I didn't think they stopped making it, but I can't seem to find it on B&H's site. Hmmm...

I'm not sure, but that lens gets pretty beat up on this forum. The basic consensus is that if you are going to spend that much, you are better off with the 70-200 f4 for about the same price. I don't know either way. I've heard mixed reviews. I know there are times that I really wish I had IS. Today we went to the race track after the zoo, and IS would have helped A LOT with my panning shots, and the extra reach would have been nice too. I guess it really comes down to what you will use it for most.
