Good question. I didn't think they stopped making it, but I can't seem to find it on B&H's site. Hmmm...

They have two 70-300mm lenses. I have the DO IS (stupid green ring), but there is also one that looks like the 75-300 that's IS.

Do you like the DO? How is the IQ on that one? It's a really 'different' lens. Worth the $$?

I searched for "Canon 75-300", but the only lens it returned was the generation III one.

Ah!

Canon replaced this zoom with the EF 70-300 4.0-5.6 IS USM in 2006.

I guess that would explain why I can't find it at three camera stores' web sites I just checked...

If given a choice between the EF 70-210 3.5-4.5 USM or EF 70-200 4L USM, I'd pick the EF 70-210 3.5-4.5 USM. Why? It is smaller, lighter, black (instead of white) , less expensive and delievers 90% of the optical and AF performance of it's L series brother. At F8 or higher there is virtually no difference between both zooms in optical performance. Of course the L zoom is a little better wide open and build like a little bazooka.

I love this... Should read "If given a choice between an L series lens, and a plastic-bodied lens, I would take the plastic one in a heartbeat, so I wouldn't have to carry that superior lens around all day."

*EDIT* That was a quote from the first link Cat put up there...

I don't have any pictures of the building I work in. I thought I did. Well, if nobody else gets this one, I'll cover it in an hour or so. I have to head in to work now, anyway...
