Her gear list is basically the same as mine (minus the L, until she stops getting fingerprints on the front elements of other lenses...) using the XT. She has my kit lens, my 75-300mm, and her own 50mm f1.8 at this point. She does a lot of portraits and digital art type stuff. I'm also leaning towards an 85mm f1.8, or a 580EX for her. Maybe the 17-40, but it's not very wide. She has good lights (but nowhere to use them) and backdrop stands and such. I don't know how much her dad is looking to spend, but it's probably quite a bit more than I could afford. I'm trying to come up with some good options across different price ranges. Any help you can give, is great.

We had a baby-sitter for my brothers one time, and they told him not to use my mom's rotary cutter because it was sharp (they were both under 10)... Long story short, baby-sitter ended up getting stitches... He should have listened to the kids.

It was quite a project, and I've seen quite an improvement. I got some good pictures back when my camera was new, but that was mostly luck. Now I see some pretty consistant good shots. Nice to know things are going well. I got up through today, and ended up filling 4.3 of the 4.5 GB I could fit. Not too shabby!
