Guess I'll hit the hay too since no one wants to come out and play.

Actually, I'm pretty sleepy, I just need someone to blame! ;)

If Renee wants a lens to do both macro and portraits with her 350, I suggest the EF-S 60mm macro lens. Its an outstanding lens (I have one that I use with my 20D) and on her 350D it's the equivalent of 96mm, which is good for portraits. The 100mm macro lens, while also outstanding, is better for portraits on a FF sensor camera (like the 5D). On the 350D, it would be 160mm equivalent, which is too tight for portraits.

Have fun shopping! :D

I'd say the 100mm is also too sharp for portraits.....it will show every pore... blemish spot etc.. (even at f/2.8 )

my 105 Sigma macro gives my 100-400 L a run for its money in the sharpness stakes...

Off topic (but because I can see your monitors there Alan): I want to buy a new monitor, which needs to be ideal (?) for image editting. Can anyone knowledgeable give me some recomendations?

Athena, I would recommend the Dell 24" widescreen. It's the same screen that apple uses, 6ms (gray to gray) and it's 24.7million colours and 1000:1 contast.

it's also got a card reader attached, USB hub and you can use it landscape or portrait viewing.

Do I have one, no :( Do I wont one, ohh hell yes. Am I going to get one, ohh yea, when the price is right.

I've looked at this one: UltraSharp 2407WFP 24-inch Wide-Screen Flat Panel Monitor (external link)?
They do not provide online ordering for Thailand tho, so I wonder where I can buy one here?

I may end up with the Apple Cinema (external link)alternative I suppose.
Have also heard the Sony displays (external link) are good and come with their own calibration hardware...
Anyone have either of these?

Thanks Mark. Actually, I started out with them in the litecube and hated all the white reflections that made on them. So I put them on a piece of white card on the table. Peppers are much more difficult to photograph than I thought they would be!

Thanks for the info, Athena. I'm hoping to do some food photography soon (book on the way), so that could be useful.

Reminded me of something right out of a Ma and Pa Kettle movie. Interestingly enough, this is an occupied home. Not sure I would be all that willing to live there.
