Since I know little to nothing of macro can I ask Athena, why you don't use the AF with tubes as I have been hearing?

If I were to get some tubes I would use them with my 50 which has a terrible manual focus ring.

You can use AF with your 50. I have them and use them with mine. I have the Kenko tubes and they work nicely. 50 hunts a little more but it still works great. Dont stack too many because your working distance becomes limited.

Thanks for the welcome all. I have KittyKat1982 and misspix to thank (blame) for turning me on to this time wasting thread. I have been visiting the Super Macro Guessing Game since its beginnings and now have another addivtive way to waste the time I can't spare.

Besides, like the SMGG I can quit any time I feel like it, yes I can.
