Now that I have my bracket, I went out and took some bug shots with my reversed lens. Man, talk about impossible! I only managed to get 2 that I liked, and one is a bad shot that just shows how much magnification is actually possible. I found that if I zoom my Simga in (closer to 300mm) then the picture gets exponentially larger! For instance, this is a nearly-uncropped picture of a fly (remember, this was taken with tubes, a telemacro and a reversed lens):

The face isn't in focus because the DOF is so shallow that the face was too large!

This is a 100% crop of the leg hair so you can see what I mean:

This is the only reversed-lens shot I got that is in focus. It is a midge:

Here is my normal macro. It is a really weirdly colored fly:

I'm experimenting on how to get more DOF at this magnification without getting the severe vignetting by stopping down the reversed lens. I'll keep you posted!

You've got more patience than me, good shots.

I'll 2nd that comment. Nice shots, considering the setup. I think Brian and racketman and Sayer make it look easy with the mpe-65, but it's a lot harder than it looks.
