I'm currently visiting SW Florida (Naples, Ft Myers) for the next couple of days and I was wondering if anyone knew of some good places for getting some shots of the local wildlife (wild birds etc) or where a good place would be for a sunset landscape.

Thanks,

Ryan;)

How about Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island? I hears that's a great place for bird photography and it should just up your neck of the woods.

They used to hold swamp buggy races in the naples area - don't know if they still do. They're interesting events and would provide a photo opportunity that's a bit out of the ordinary.

Ft. Desoto is interesting. If you have access to a boat, then Egmont Key (sp?) is a neat place to go as well. It's the island opposite Ft. Desoto and has a population of giant gopher turtles, plus a lot of old bunkers and the like. There's also a small fishing village there.

Lot's of picture taking opportunities....

cheers.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm always open to more. I'll have to get out and get some shots. I think I am going to try and make it up to Sanibel tomorrow or friday!

Thanks,

Ryan

Shark Valley out on the Tamiami Trail. Wildlife not in cages that you can almost touch (don't touch the gators)

depending on how far you want to drive, if you head out of naples east on rt 41 about 50 minutes later you come to the a.williams rest stop where there are gators, birds, turtles etc and further along 41 in the indian reservation there are places to take an airboat or swamp buggy ride into the everglades
