Nice looking images, I love the background bokeh, and he's very sharp :) I love his beard as well, makes him look old and wise. What sort of fly is it, do you know? Were these shot in natural light, it looks it as the light is very gentle and pleasing.

got him in the garden. haven't figured out what type of fly he is yet... got my insect book out but no direct match... all light was natural.

He must be a HUGE fly!!! Looking at the size and body shape, I'd have a guess at him being a Robber Fly of some sort...
