Hey, I mightve asked this here before, but have a bad memory.

What is a good program to watermark a lot of pics. I take about 300 pics every weekend at the track and need a way to watermark a lot of them. Has anyone used BreezeBrowser or BreezeBrowser Pro? I have the regular BreezeBrowser but havent messed around with it too much... Shouldnt I erase the EXIF data when I make proofs or send them out to people? If the BreezeBrowser is able to watermark a lot of pics, should I just make a watermark in photoshop and have that pasted on all the images? err.. What do you guys do?

I use Photo mechanic nowadays for this. In 4.4.3 it has watermarking feature too, and it can actually put watermark on the fly when uploading to ftp server or sending in mail (next to resizing etc.). Before that I just had action in PS to do it, but it's much easier now in PM.

Digimarc is by far, in our opinion, one of the best out there.

http://www.digimarc.com/ (external link)

It's heavy duty and will take a lot of abuse, since it's embedded in the image. You pay for a specified amount of images at a time, and the "marks" have 1 use per photo.

It's also fully compatible with Corel Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements.

I'm not sure if original poster wanted to watermark photos this was Digimarc is doing. Digimarc's way is great way if you want to protect your photos so, that you can prove it's your, but people can use it without anyone even noticing it. Watermark like text or logo over photo is the way I protect my photos on web so they can't be used for anything at least half decent.

Btw... a bit off topic but still... As far as I understood Digimarc sets some kind of unique "noise" pattern over photo (I'm not going into Digimarc's watermarking destroys quality of photo). This means I run it through some Noise Ninja or similar program and noise pattern is changed. Would Digimarc still recognize this photo as yours or would it lose track? I never had need for this kind of watermarking, so I admit I don't know all that much about Digimarc. But it doesn't hurt to learn something new anyway ;)

Hmmm... perhaps you're right, I may have misinterpreted that. I know that I've saved and resaved JPGs with them, and they retained the "watermark". The company also said they can take resizing and multiple layers of compression and still retain the mark. Pretty neat stuff. On the other type of "watermark", I've just used the text tool in photoshop, did it as a layer, and depending upon the image density, I'd use like a 30% - 50% opacity, then merged all and resaved.

This may sound really naive, but can't you just create your own custom watermark via Photoshop and make it an action?

I do use Breezebrowser Pro to do some of this for me. Only yesterday did I start playing with having it take a gif of a logo that I have been playing with and put it in the image for me. Works like a charm. You can change the opacity of the imported gif, the sample below is set at 100%. This is only a test file that I was putzing with.

There are a whack of programs out there that can facilitate this for you. Everyone has their favorites but that doesn't mean that one is necessarily better than all the rest. I wish I had the time to test them all. I use BB as it does a number of other things that I like beyond the watermarking. It is a good little utility, however, I don't use it to convert RAW files anymore.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

the only problem with Russell Brown's method...at least from what I know in my limited PS knowledge, is that you have to have Illustrator installed and open, because you're actually creating and embedding a path into PS when you create the action. That...and if you decide that maybe the watermark is too small/big or want a different effect, you have to start all over......
