I took a picture of our trip to a Caliraya Lake here in the Philippines during the weekend. I also took a pic of our pet.:p I'd appreciate some critique and suggestions. I'm just a beginner and my camera isn't a professional cam, it's an A510, and I'm just 15 years old.:D

Hey 4x4kid, welcome aboard. If I was taking pics like these when I was your age, I'd be a making big bucks by now. I like your sunrise/sunset composition. Pitty your timing was bit out though as you've probably missed the best colour. Those spectacular events don't wait for anyone so you've got to be ready and be patient. Nice tight close up of the dog. He looks very asleep. Keep up the good work and hope to see more.

Bob. :D

Canon 5D, 350D, lots of patience and a sack of other stuff.

The composition of the dog is fantastic. Way to go with switching things up and getting down to his level. Your sunset picture appears to have some problems with camera shake, Probably due to the low light. Or maybe you were in a moving car? For low light photography a tripod is best.

Sharyn, it was due to low light and I didn't have a tripod so it was kinda hard to prevent the camera from shaking.:D

Delinian, thanks!!;)

Bobscape, yeah I know, we arrived kinda late so I missed the perfect sunset picture. Too bad. I'll try again next time!

Looking good so far, 4x4! You show a good eye for compositional elements and color. I started to seriously study and practice photography when I was 13. Now, four years later, I have my own photography business!

My two tips are:
- shoot everyday, whether you want to or not.
- read read read a lot of books. Not just on technique, but history, too. Go to galleries. Read about photographers. It helps immensly.
