A selection of fly shots. Enjoy. My faves are #1, #4 and #6.

No 5 & 6. Both of these were taken with my new Sigma 150mm.

You can see the superb resolution and colour rendition of the fantastic Sigma 150mm.

Final two in the series. No 7 isn't my best shot, not particularly sharp. I really only included it because of the colours of the fly and for possible ID by anyone. It was almost impossible to get this shot, I had this fly on a leaf, with leaves in front of him and it was very windy, so both the leaves were blocking my line of sight, and he was moving back and forth as well. Very frustrating shot.

8. This was taken under perfect conditions, nice light, no wind, sadly, I didn't quite grab focus on the eyes as best as I could have, or should have. A bit disappointing, but I like the variations on the back of this fly and the pose.

Was taken around midday and the light was really nice. Thankfully it's heading into Winter here, so the light isn't as harsh as it is in summer and I think that helped this image. Made it bright, but not too bright or harsh. I nailed the exposure pretty well and managed to focus sharply with the new Sigma. When I do it right with the Sigma, it's gorgeous.

Great series- you sure are getting used to that lens fast :)
Love the fly? in #1 &2- with eyes like that suspect it's a horse fly of some type.

Thanks for the kind words Brian, Alan & Leo - makes me really feel like I'm getting somewhere with my images! Only shots 5,6 & 8 were taken with the new Sigma lens, the rest were with the old 50mm/tubes setup. I'm really impressed with the optical quality and colour reproduction of the Sigma 150.

Thanks for the potential ID on the fly in #1 & #2 Brian - I'll have to investigate a bit more and see if I can nail the species, it's a lovely looking fly and quite relaxed.
