I thought that this was a dung fly, or possibly a fruit fly, but I'm not entirely sure. It was very tiny, no more than 3mm or so. Thanks!

This is a crop from another shot. I'm pretty happy with this shot, considering I'm cropping very heavily from a 4mp shot.

That inverse shot is quit interesting. It looks like that little baby just got dosed with a massive amount of radioactivity. Talk about killing your flies. :)

I never thought about that - it does sort of have a radioactive look to it, doesn't it? As to killing them, I think we'd kill ourselves first, I think most insects are much more tolerant of radiation levels than humans!

Thanks Brian and Leo for the very kind words. I was happy to get these reasonably sharp, considering how small it is. I admit that I find it very hard to focus sharply on the eyes of such small insects.
