1. Colourful aren't they?

2. A young one, what little I could get of the eyes is sharp, was one of those shots that this was the best angle I could get. I'm happy with the bokeh, but overdid the flash a tiny fraction on the midsection of the spider. Still, I quite like this shot. This is a crop as well.

3. Closeup, showing the fangs and palps. Eyes are visible, but the DOF was limited so they're not sharp. This is a crop from a larger image, the St Andrews was a fully grown female, quite large.

#2 is my favourite of these 3 images. Thanks for looking.

Very nice shots. Lots of detail in the 1st and last one. Love the background of the 2nd one ;)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG.....

*ahem* ...excuse me a moment. have I mentioned I'm not a fan of spiders?

Very nice shots. I agree in the second one, if you pulled back on the flash a little, you would have had a sharp image!! Very cool.

Thanks Leo & Mike. Spiders aren't that bad Mike, the best thing is to read up on them, seriously. I had the same reaction as you no less than six months ago. I saw a book on sale at a local book store on Australian spiders, bought it and gradually overcame my fear and learnt some things about them. A lot of human fear is fear of the unknown, or what isn't understood. Conquer the lack of knowledge and you usually conquer the fear.
