As a matter of fact. I so happen to be shooting my first indoor children's dance/musical at a local theater tonight. I've been vigorously studying the images and camera data from many of the poster's images on this site and other sites and hope I can come up with a successful shoot. I'll post something if things go well.

I've shot dance portraits before, just keep the poses really elegant, see if they have any specific poses from a favorite dance that they would like to do to make it more personal:)

...::: Canon EOS 40D on the way!!! :D, Canon Rebel XT/350D, Canon EF 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III zoom Lens, Sunpak 64.6" tripod, a really fat wish list :::...

Are you doing portraits or the recital?

If it is a recital, I would have to advise you to use the fastest lens you can. Lighting is typically terrible in the theaters they perform in (from my exp anyway).

If it is portraits, I would have to agree with the above advice about posing. I know my daughters feel more comfortable doing a familiar pose.
