I tested all of my lens today

Tamron 28-75 f2.8
Tamron 17-35 f2.8-4
Sigma 24-70 f2.8
Tokina 12-24 f4
Canon 75-300 IS

All shot from the same location on the same subject at various FL and apatures to compare sharpness.

I tested f16, f8, f4, and the lens widest apature.

I shot outdoors at ISO400 to keep the shutter speed high even at f16 to eliminate shake as a factor.

If your interested in any of these lens you welcome to have a look

Here's a comparison of the Tamron 28-75 @ f2.8 and the Sigma 24-70 @ f2.8 both at 35mm

Not sure why the images are out of order after uploading them to photobucket? :(

Its hard to tell by the resized pics, but the Sigma was noticably sharper in the center with very soft edges up to f8 where the edges sharpend up. By f16 they were both very sharp edge to edge. Even though the sigma had a sharper image center the Tamron was very consistant through out the image with sharpness, no big fall off.

I've been very happy with it!!! thanks again for the great deal :)

I was actually surprised at how sharp it was, especially on the wide end. I really need IS on a long lens as I'm prone to get the shakes so it fits my needs 100%.

Hmm, Interesting test. May be just me, but I don't get what the test was trying to show other than the sharpness of your particuliar lenses. If that is the case, good job. If it was meant to show sharpness between the lenses; without side by side photos, it can be hard to tell the difference. Never the less, nice post.

I compared them side by side, I was really interested in comparing the Tamron 26-75 and the Sigma 24-70.

I just didn't take the time to make 100% crops for everyone else to compare :D (it wasn't ment to be a review or anything)
