Not noticed red ants tending aphids before.
Just for interest one of the shots was taken with the 105mm EX with ext tubes and the rest with the MPE-65- can you tell which one without looking at the exif data?

The first one is probably the 105EX with tubes. I cannot see the EXIF data as I haven't got the means to access them at work.

Great shots again!

i think it's #3, the color of the ants is a bit darker. it's definately not #1, 4, or 5, its way to close for the 105mm.

Thanks for the comments all :)
Yes #3 was taken with the sigma - not sure if the colour difference is significant- they were actually taken at different time of the day.
Brian V.

[EDIT] Turns out I double bluffed myself into a double blind trial- #2&3 are both with the Sigma

I was going to guess that no 1 was the Sigma. It is fascinating that the difference is not more obvious.

All great shots especially 2 and 3 which are my favourites as there is so much going on that is in focus - I could stare at them for hours! :)

Nice series Brian, I thought it was #2 as it lacked the eye detail of the other shots (ie. resolution). I honestly can't see any colour variation between #3 and the rest of the shots either, despite looking close for a fair while.

I couldnt have told - Sigma did a good job. MP E65 is more convenient to use at high mag though. Some excellent captures there.

All are great! But #2 and #3 are both with the 105mm according to the Opanda exif plugin. :)
