It called selective coloring. In essence what you do is select the part that you want to appear in black and white and desaturate it. They are many different approaches to attaining black and white from a color shot. It is not very hard but getting your selection just right can be time consuming.


My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

So is it a case of a steady hand and outlining the bits you want desaturated?

Yes - the easiest method I've found it to use the magic wand with a layer mask and then correct detail areas using quick mask mode

desaturate the whole image, go back with history brush and colour it in - it takes me like 1 minute to do it!

Hello ... You say to desaturate the whole image correct? Ok how does one do this with Abode Elements ver 4.0 Thanksfor any help on this issue
