Wierd and Wonderful World of Water.

Hi everyone,
This is my first picture post in about a month- I've been getting withdrawal symtoms . Anyway, here's some wierd things that are living in my pond at the moment. Dad says these are water-boat-mans, has any-one got any other ID on them or is that the real name - they seem to back swim across the surface of the pond with their two long legs, the pictures tell the rest.
What do you Think? Have you got any tips on shooting into the water?

Lovely shots Andrew. Look at the fangs on that first critter! If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was something like a tick that lives in water!

Noooooo, I just read the article in the link there Brian, No wonder we never seem to get any tadpoles + thats probably where all our fish disapeared to as well.

Some of that info in the article sounds quite horrible, Lets just hope they don't start flying anytime soon- especially with fangs like those.

Great pictures Andrew. Notice they swim with their bellies to the light? Put one in a jar and shine a torch from the bottom and they turn over! Yes they do fly and bite if you pick one up!!

Great series. They are very sharp and well composited. Well done!

Thanks all, I think I'll leave the jar and torch test for now - I like my hands without them being covered in fang holes
