The rock louse, Ligia, is found commonly in the high supratidal environment, kept moist by the wave action, but never submirged under water. Taken at Point Loma tide pools, San Diego. Feeding upon dead and dying organisms, both plant and animal, these animals mark the zone between sea and land. Related to the common pill bugs/sow bugs of gardens, these are restricted to this marine zone.
